早上7点30分，小胖开始洗漱，并特意洗了头，医院工作人员哄着他帮他吹干了头发，穿好手术衣服，注射术前针。术前需要禁食禁水10小时，贪吃的小胖趁爸爸没注意，偷吃了三个龙眼，好在经咨询麻醉科主任后可以继续手术，陈笑梅副主任一再提醒周爸爸，所有零食不要放在小胖看得到的地方，并把床头柜上所有能吃的东西全部没收，包括周爸爸吃的一瓶咸菜。小胖坐在床上自主自语，手术后要和陈主任算帐，那一瓶咸菜要3000多块呢。
暨华医院微创减重中心主任、首席专家王存川教授介绍说，给小胖做的是腹腔镜下胃旁路手术，这种手术比袖状胃手术要复杂，手术后胃部保留10-20毫升，小肠旷置1.5-2米左右，通过减少胃容量，减少吸收来达到减重的目的。小胖的病情已查清楚，我们给他做了基因检查，小胖第15染色体缺失，确诊为小胖威利综合症，与单纯性肥胖不同，这种病症食欲旺盛，没有饱胀感，如果不手术，会有生命危险。小胖入院时的BMI指数为70，下肢水肿很严重，并伴有严重的代谢疾病和并发症。国际上曾有最小2岁半的幼儿进行减重手术的先例，术后恢复良好。我们经过多次讨论研究和国际远程会诊，最后决定对小胖徐周磊行腹腔镜下胃旁路手术。
